How Snow Guards Work
Snow guards are installed in rows across a roof slope, usually near the eaves and above doorways, walkways, and lower roof sections. Rather than letting snow build up and then break free as a single heavy slab, the guards break that mass into smaller pieces and let it slide off slowly or melt and drain through the gutters.
They come in two main styles: pad-style (or fence-style) guards that span across the roof in a continuous bar, and individual pad or cleat guards that are spaced in a grid pattern. The right choice depends on roof material, pitch, and how much snow load your area sees.
Why Snow Guards Matter in the Spokane & Inland Northwest Climate

- Decks, patios, gas meters, and AC condensers

Snow guards must be fastened so they transfer the snow load into the roof's structure without creating leaks.
