Why Ford shingles dry out the way they do
Sitting in Stevens County at the edge of the timber country, Ford sees a punishing seasonal rhythm: bright, dry summer afternoons that bake the south and west faces of a roof, then nights that drop fast enough to crack open the asphalt binder. Add the freeze-thaw cycling that rolls through every winter and the wind that funnels across open pasture, and the granule-locking oils in a shingle break down well ahead of the warranty clock.
Rejuvenation puts those oils back. A roof treatment soaks into the asphalt, restores flexibility, and re-anchors the granules that shield the mat from UV. For a sound roof that is simply drying out, it can buy meaningful additional years without tearing anything off.
Is your roof a candidate, or does it need more?
Rejuvenation is the right call for shingles that are aging but still structurally intact. It is not a fix for active leaks, missing tabs, or storm damage. Before we recommend anything, we walk the roof and tell you honestly which category you are in.
- Good candidate: 8-15 year old shingles, granules thinning, some curling at edges, no leaks
- Borderline: isolated damage that can be repaired first, then treated
- Not a candidate: widespread cracking, bare mat showing, or water already getting in
If you are past the point rejuvenation can help, we will say so and talk through roof replacement instead of selling you a treatment that won't hold.
Remote homes and outbuildings around Ford
Many properties near Ford are remote rural homes and outbuildings spread across acreage, and a full tear-off on a shop, barn, or detached garage can be hard to justify when the roof is only tired, not finished. Rejuvenation gives those secondary structures a cost-effective path to several more seasons of service.
We are set up for the distances out here. Crews come prepared to treat the main house and the outbuildings in one visit, so you are not coordinating multiple trips down long gravel drives.
What the treatment process looks like
The job is straightforward and low-disruption compared to replacement:
- Inspection - we confirm the shingles will respond to treatment and flag anything needing repair first
- Prep - debris and loose granules are cleared, vulnerable plantings and surfaces protected
- Application - the rejuvenating treatment is applied evenly across the field of the roof
- Cure - the product absorbs into the asphalt over a short window
Most roofs are done in a single day, and there is no landfill load or new shingle delivery to schedule.
Working with a contractor who knows the area
DG Contracting LLC has served homeowners across the Inland Northwest since 2013, and we know what the country near the Spokane Reservation does to a roof over time. As a GAF Master Elite contractor - a standing held by only the top two to three percent of roofers nationwide - we are also the right call when an inspection turns up problems rejuvenation can't solve.
We are licensed and insured in both Washington and Idaho, our estimates are free, and flexible financing is available if a project ends up larger than a treatment. Reach us at (509) 209-1894.
Rejuvenation versus replacement: the honest math
Rejuvenation is a fraction of the cost of a new roof, but it only makes sense within a specific window. Treat a roof too late and you have spent money on shingles that were going to fail anyway. Treat at the right time and you delay a major expense by years while keeping the roof watertight.
The deciding factor is condition, not age alone. Two roofs the same age can be in very different shape depending on slope, exposure, and original install quality. That is why we inspect first and base the recommendation on what we actually find up top.
