When to book an inspection
Most homeowners only think about their roof once water is already dripping inside. By then the repair is bigger and costlier than it had to be. A better rhythm is two scheduled inspections a year - one in late spring after the snow has melted off, and one in early fall before the first hard freeze.
Beyond the calendar, certain events should always trigger a call:
- After a wind or hail event has swept through the area
- Following a winter with heavy snow load or visible ice dams along the eaves
- When you're buying or selling a home near the lake
- If your roof is past 12 to 15 years old and has never been professionally checked
- Anytime you spot granules in the gutters, daylight in the attic, or a stain on the ceiling
Why these roofs wear faster
